Conseil Départemental de l'Essonne
Accelerating an SCCM Infrastructure Overhaul
About the client
The Conseil Départemental de l'Essonne is the deliberative assembly of the Essonne department, located in the Île-de-France region of France. As the local executive body, it is responsible for managing and administering a range of departmental public services.
The business challenge
SCCM, a solution in need of modernization
To manage its 5,000 workstations, the Conseil Départemental de l'Essonne historically relied on Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), formerly known as SCCM. The tool was used jointly by the Windows server team and the workstation team. To support the overhaul of its MECM infrastructure and reinforce its teams, the department brought in Synapsys experts.
Our solution
Extending SCCM's use across new areas
Synapsys experts helped the department migrate its SCCM solution to a new 4-server infrastructure, a significant upgrade that let both the workstation and server teams make full use of the solution. The Synapsys Windows Server Systems Engineer embedded in CD91's server team handled deploying SCCM capabilities for patch management and server security, managing security alerts end to end, provisioning Windows Server machines to support various business projects, accounting for their specific needs and network configurations, and maintaining and evolving Active Directory. In total, the team included 3 Synapsys experts working alongside 4 department staff.
Implementation
A structured methodology for infrastructure migration
This project helped the Conseil Départemental de l'Essonne accelerate its shift toward more modern workstation management. To structure the migration, Synapsys brought a working methodology to scope projects, build procedures, and produce documentation, ensuring infrastructure projects could be understood by internal teams and fully integrated into the organization.
Measurable results
A trusted, successful migration
A strong working relationship built up between Synapsys experts and internal teams, leading to real results: a successful migration, new working processes, and an optimized 3C communication process, the department's equivalent of a change advisory board (CAB).
