The business challenge
A transformation project toward a modern environment
In May 2024, Auchan International launched a strategic transformation of its digital workplace as part of its Modern Workplace roadmap. The goal was to modernize device management, improve security, and harmonize tools internationally.
The initial scope covered 400 Windows devices, primarily in France, with several major challenges: migrating the MDM from Workspace ONE to Microsoft Intune, moving to Windows 11 ahead of Windows 10's end of support, rebuilding MDM reporting lost during the tool change, integrating the Auchan Senegal business unit, previously managed locally with Active Directory and GPO, and strengthening cybersecurity with proactive vulnerability management.
Our solution
Migrating the MDM from Workspace ONE to Microsoft Intune
A Synapsys expert in modern device management led the transformation, working across technical architecture, project management, and security. Configurations, scripts, and applications were transferred from Workspace ONE to Microsoft Intune, alongside newly developed automated enrollment and de-enrollment scripts.
Configurations were validated together with the GDPR, security, and architecture teams, and support teams were equipped with new preparation and troubleshooting procedures.
Implementation
Windows 11 at scale, automated reporting, and international rollout
The move to Windows 11 covered more than 400 devices, migrated in under three months with no major incidents, thanks to close coordination with local teams.
An automated Power BI dashboard was built using Microsoft Graph API and Azure Automation, giving security teams and management a clear, centralized view of the device fleet's status.
The integration of the Auchan Senegal business unit began with requirements scoping and an audit of the existing setup. A modern solution based on Autopilot, Intune, and custom profiles was deployed, moving the unit from local management to centralized administration with remote monitoring.
Device security was strengthened using Qualys to identify and remediate vulnerabilities, with corrective actions coordinated alongside the security team to durably reduce the attack surface.

Standardization, visibility, and security
The engagement delivered standardized tools and practices internationally, fewer incidents through better preparation and stronger support, increased visibility into device fleet status through automated reporting, greater autonomy for business units, notably Auchan Senegal, a more secure fleet with better vulnerability management, and groundwork for converging France and International IT around a shared foundation.
