Tenant Separation and Migration to Microsoft 365
About the client
in'li is the leading provider of intermediate housing in France and a subsidiary of the Action Logement group. Managing more than 80,000 housing units, in'li helps young professionals and middle-income earners access housing at controlled rents. in'li's teams brought in Synapsys to set up their own Microsoft 365 tenant, independent of the Group's other subsidiaries.
The business challenge
Following an administrative reorganization within the Action Logement group, in'li needed its own Microsoft 365 environment, independent of its former sister structures. Synapsys carried out an in-depth audit of the existing tenant, covering every area affected by the separation: files and collaborative spaces (SharePoint, OneDrive, document volume), users and identities (accounts, groups, roles, and permissions), messaging (mailboxes, distribution lists, rules), business applications (technical dependencies and existing integrations), and cross-subsidiary links (shared access and pooled services to be untangled). This audit made it possible to quantify the volume to be migrated, identify technical points of attention, and map out the links to address before cutover.
Our solution
Following the audit, Synapsys built a structured migration scenario, along with the preconditions and technical prerequisites to clear before launching the operation. The engagement included a detailed cost estimate covering data migration, user support, and governance of the new tenant. This financial visibility let in'li make decisions with confidence and secure the investment.
Implementation
Synapsys put forward governance recommendations for the future dedicated tenant, to build it on solid foundations from the start and avoid reproducing the pain points of the shared tenant: structuring collaborative spaces (document model, SharePoint hierarchy, and Teams creation rules), security policies (access conditions, MFA, sensitive data protection), access rules and external sharing (governing collaboration with partners and vendors), identity management (account lifecycle, privileged roles, and provisioning), and document lifecycle (retention, archiving, and classification policies).
Measurable results
Following the study phase, in'li entrusted Synapsys with carrying out the migration itself, continuing the engagement already underway. Note: the source page doesn't give a quantified end result since the migration appears to still be in progress.
