Migrating from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Across 12 Countries

Auchan decided to migrate to Microsoft 365 as part of a broader transformation program that also included repatriating a large volume of services from GCP to physical servers over nine months. In a group where each country operates with strong autonomy, the challenge went beyond a tool change: it meant regaining control of identity management, unifying collaboration practices, and giving Corporate central oversight of licenses and services on an international scale.

Synapsys is acting as program management assistance and structuring the engagement around five areas: service governance, defining the operating framework and post-migration steering processes for the following three years; program management, identifying stakeholders, project governance, and running group-wide steering committees; workshops with Microsoft, organizing and running the sessions needed to supply migration data; M365 and IAM architecture, designing the target platform across 12 countries and structuring the identity layer; and country-level engagement, running local workshops to gather information, prepare the cutover, and support change management.

Beyond the migration itself, Synapsys is mapping out the Modern Workplace Platform model for the years ahead, covering identity governance, security, collaboration, Power Automation, and end-user experience, along with a recommended target organization that brings all of these building blocks together under a unified steering structure.
